DIG YOUR OWN IDOLS

ASP Takes the Stage at the UK’s Largest Japanese Culture Festival, Bringing Idol Culture to the World

September 09, 2025

On Sunday, September 21, 2025, ASP performed at Japan Matsuri, a free-entry event held at Trafalgar Square in Westminster, London.

Japan Matsuri is the UK’s largest and most beloved annual festival celebrating Japanese culture and food. Alongside food stalls serving Japanese cuisine, the venue featured booths selling kimono, tableware, and ingredients, while a large stage stood at the center of the square. Throughout the day, audiences enjoyed a variety of Japanese cultural performances, including taiko drumming, Sōran Bushi, calligraphy demonstrations, and cosplay, drawing huge crowds from morning until evening.

Among the cultural highlights on the main stage was “idol,” and representing this unique aspect of Japanese culture was none other than ASP.

Following their introduction by the MC, the eight members took the stage and opened their set with “Ja・Pa・Nese Girl,” almost like a self-introduction as Japanese idols. They then moved into UK-related songs, performing “TOXiC iNVASiON”—based on a track provided by Maxim of The Prodigy—and “MAKE A MOVE”, produced by London-based rock duo WARGASM. Returning to a Tokyo-themed number with “Tokyo Sky Blues”, they closed their set in high gear with the fast-paced rock anthem “Get New Mirai.”

The audience that day was not limited to ASP’s fans, but also included festival-goers with an interest in Japanese culture as well as casual passersby. Many raised their smartphones to capture the performance or swayed along to the music, captivated by ASP’s energy. At the booth of UK record label JPU Records, ASP held a merch signing and cheki (photo session) event, allowing both longtime supporters and first-timers to engage directly with the group. Together, the live performance and fan interaction offered a comprehensive experience of Japanese idol culture.

ASP is now set to embark on their first-ever UK tour, ASP in the UK Tour, starting with Bristol on September 22, followed by Manchester on the 23rd, and concluding in London on the 25th. It has also been announced that this tour will mark the departure of original members YUMEKA NOWKANA? and MOG RYAN, adding a special significance to the journey.

For ASP, an unforgettable week in the UK has just begun.
