Introduction to WACK Groups: MAMESHiBA NO TAiGUN TONAIBOUSHO a.k.a. MONSTER IDOL

MAMESHiBA NO TAiGUN TONAIBOUSHO, also known as MONSTER IDOL, is a four-piece idol group under WACK. The members are AiKA THE SPY, NAO OF NAO, LEONAEMPiRE, and MOMOTiNGALE.Their fans are affectionately called “MAMETSUBU.”
The idol group MAMESHiBA NO TAiGUN was created in 2019 through the project “MONSTER IDOL” on the popular variety show Wednesday Downtown on the Japanese TV channel TBS. The judge was Kuro-chan from the idol-loving comedy trio Yasuda Dai Circus. Although it was an idol audition project, its unique concept, which included romantic elements, generated buzz far beyond the usual idol fanbase.
The first single ‘Ri Start’ was released in three formats, and the best-selling format determined that Kuro-chan would join the group as an advisor.
Since their debut, MAMESHiBA NO TAiGUN has continued to release songs and perform live shows. They also regularly upload variety-style videos to YouTube, showcasing unique activities distinct from other WACK groups. In addition to live performances, they participate in various variety projects, including regular appearances on terrestrial TV shows.
On 6 January 2024, it was announced that they would merge with TONAIBOUSHO, a group formed in 2022 through the MONSTER LOVE project on Wednesday Downtown. The newly formed group is now called “MAMESHiBA NO TAiGUN TONAIBOUSHO.”
The group is known for exploring a wide range of musical genres, blending the cute idol songs and rock tracks of MAMESHiBA NO TAiGUN with the mellow, trend-setting sounds of TONAIBOUSHO.
